Mattresses and Ensembles (mattress with matching base):

All mattresses and ensembles at Sleepy Hollow are Australian made.

Sleepy Hollow's mattresses are engineered for slatted bed bases (even ensemble bases have timber slats for support to increase its lifespan and reduce excess bounce in the mattress). Sleepy Hollow has designed their range of mattresses and ensembles to provide better long lasting comfort and support by using high quality materials.

Comfort Layers:
Comfort and quilting layers vary enormously between models such as Wool, Dacron, 100% Natural Latex,100% Soft Natural Latex, Visco-Elastic (slow release memory foam), High Density Plush foam, High Density Soft foam, Hypersoft foam, Medium Density Health Guard treated foam and Extra Firm foam. Individual use, combinations and quantities of these products create different feels and comfort levels with varying benefits while aiding support.

5 Turn Support System:
A traditional spring system that has stood the test of time. Initial feel is soft but firms as weight is applied due to the shape of the spring. Strength of spring is determined by gauge (thickness) of wire, tempering (process to increase degree of hardness and elasticity of steel) and height of spring (the taller the spring, the weaker the spring, unless the number of turns is increased).
The springs in Sleepy Hollow’s range of mattresses are joined together by helicoil wires which run head to toe (instead of across the mattress) which reduces movement (partner disturbance) and roll together (dipping in centre of mattress).
This spring system can be zoned so that there is a greater concentration (and sometimes thicker gauge) of springs through the centre of the mattress enabling increased support where weight is concentrated.
Around the perimeter of the mattress is either a steel edge support or rubber surround (carefully selected for each specification of mattress) which strengthens the edge of the mattress where people tend to sit. It also increases the sleeping surface area of the mattress by allowing you to sleep right to the edge of the mattress without feeling like you are rolling off the edge or back into the centre.

6 Turn Support System:   A softer, but stronger (and longer lasting) spring due to the extra turn in the wire. The shape of the spring enables more springs to be placed in the mattress (and closer together), resulting in reduced wear as each individual spring takes less weight. There are 70% more springs than a conventional mattress. The strength of the spring is reinforced by the gauge (thickness) and tempering (process to increase degree of hardness and elasticity of steel).
The 6 Turn Super Springs are joined together by helicoil wires which run head to toe (instead of across the mattress). When combined with the higher spring count, they have a greater ability to  reduce movement (partner disturbance) and roll together (dipping in centre of mattress) as there is less pull (and stretch) on these helicoil wires due to the close proximity of the springs.

Sensor-Flex Support System:
A firm but moulding spring system which reacts to your shape (as opposed to where weight is distributed), resulting in correct body alignment no matter whether you sleep on your side, back or front. This is one of the best spring systems for reducing partner disturbance and roll together as the springs are not connected by steel (no helicoil wire). The springs are separated and move independently in specially designed fabric units that are fantastic for partners of different weights or different comfort preferences.

Sensor-Flex Twin Support System:
This is an award winning system with one of the highest spring counts available (nearly 1300 springs in a queen size mattress). As with the Sensor-Flex Support System, the twin spring is fantastic for reducing partner disturbance and roll together. The even distribution of weight through the entire spring system prolongs the life and enjoyment of the mattress.
Around the perimeter of the mattress is a double edge made up of an hour glass shaped steel edge support and a rubber surround (carefully selected for each specification of mattress) which strengthens the edge of the mattress where people tend to sit. It also increases the sleeping surface area of the mattress by allowing you to sleep right to the edge of the mattress without feeling like you are rolling off the edge or back into the centre.

Natural Latex:
Sleepy Hollow uses 100% natural latex (from the rubber tree) in high quality mattresses and ensembles.

Natural latex is hygienic, hyper-allergenic, dust free, contaminant free, non-toxic and as yet unchallenged in retaining its green strength. 100% Natural Latex’s superb flexibility and resilient characteristics at any degree of hardness makes it ideal in Sleepy Hollow’s high quality mattresses.

Mattresses containing natural latex are fantastic at reducing pressure points, partner disturbance and have a tendency to last longer than mattresses containing synthetics.

If you feel the heat, 100% natural latex comfort layers (instead of foams/synthetics) combined with the Sensor-Flex or Sensor Flex Twin Support System gives you all the advantages of latex and ventilation of spring.
